POSITION SUMMARY Join the Washington Chapter’s nine member Philanthropy team with three other full time major gift officers with beautiful offices in the Pike Place Market. Manage the operations of a fun, innovative Philanthropy team. Contribute in the creation and implementation of strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of a portfolio of 25 major gift prospects, including corporate, foundation, institutions, and/or individual donors with at least $50,000 capacity over three years. Work closely with the philanthropy team to determine effective strategies for identified donors and prospects; provide opportunity for donors to receive recognition and increase future giving opportunities and be part of a state wide team that values and participates in philanthropy. Some travel opportunities around the state, the country and even the world. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS For the Washington state program, provides leadership for all support activities related to philanthropy and related program areas, manages donor stewardship and recognition plan, department finance reporting; database management, gift processing, prospect research, annual appeal process, and writing for foundation grants and donor stewardship reports. Directly manages a portfolio of major prospects/donors. The position works with state, division, regional, and Worldwide Office staff, as well as Trustees, other volunteers, vendors, and the public to accomplish goals. Works directly with Director of Philanthropy and serves as a key member of the philanthropy senior team to create and implement strategic goals and associated tactics for these activities and program areas and provides support for statewide campaign. Responsible for writing foundation grants, appeal letters, acknowledgement templates and other general philanthropy written correspondence. Responsible for the supervision and professional development of philanthropy support staff. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field and a minimum of 7 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Major gifts fundraising experience required. · Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors. · Experience, coursework, or other training in current trends in charitable giving in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving. · Experience in asking for and closing major gifts of $25,000 or more. · Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents such as major donors and corporations.
