Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation planning, environmental planning, environmental sciences 5 years of experience in environmental planning focusing on CEQA document preparation including Initial Studies, Negative Declarations, Mitigated Negative Declarations and EIRs; and NEPA document preparation, specifically Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, EISs
Project experience working with state and federal resources agencies for permitting approvals such as Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act including coordination with other environmental regulatory agencies; experience working on Water resources and Aviation projects desirable.
Proven task management expertise providing leadership and hands-on working experience authoring environmental documents and permit applications;
Independent research and problem solving abilities and excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient in MS Office applications (MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and efficient data storage).
Requires previous project management experience, plus a demonstrated track record managing a range of small to large CEQA and NEPA planning projects ($50K to $1M); preparing budgets, scopes, schedules, supervising and mentoring staff, managing client relationships, and overseeing the preparation of environmental documents and permitting assessments.
The candidate must have demonstrated success with managing complex NEPA/CEQA projects and leading business development activities.
The successful candidate is required to successfully complete the URS Project Management Certification Program within 6 months of the hire date. As a Senior Environmental Planner, you will be responsible for the environmental compliance of a variety of projects. Working with diverse teams of specialists (biologists, archaeologists, air quality specialists, traffic engineers, civil engineers, etc.) you will develop project descriptions, coordinate field review and data collection, prepare project schedules, prepare CEQA/NEPA documents, develop mitigation tools, communicate requirements, coordinate environmental compliance during construction, resolve project issues, work with local/ state/federal agencies, acquire and implement permits, and complete post- project requirements.
