Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelors degree in Geology
2. 10 years of relevant experience in engineering geology
3. Professional License in State of California (Certified Engineering Geologist)
Masters degree in geology or other geology-related discipline can substitute for 2 years of work experience. PhD degree in geology or other geology-related discipline can substitute for up to 3 years of work experience.

Full technical capability for developing, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments.

Ability to independently plan, estimate and execute the scope of work for geologic field investigations.

Ability to independently provide sound technical basis for investigation approach and conclusions within the regulatory framework of the assigned project.

This position requires successful completion of the URS Project Management Certification program within 6 months of hire. This certification program is a series of learning modules and is available on-line through the URS Learning Management System at no financial cost to the employee.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will manage and lead geologic/geotechnical field investigations and prepare technical reports. Work performed will involve conventional aspects of the engineering geology discipline. Experience should include logging of borings and test pits, down-hole logging, fault trenching, preparation of geological maps and cross-sections, and preparation of geological reports. The successful candidate may serve as Project Manager on routine or smaller projects and Task Manager on large (complex, multidisciplinary) projects. The successful candidate will assist in determining schedule and budget requirements, will effectively support the preparation of proposals, and will provides technical peer review for reports and other routine tasks and deliverables. The successful candidate will communicate and coordinate with clients and will oversee, mentor, and lead multiple junior staff in technical work. The successful candidate shall be capable of managing multiple projects (technically and financially) and handling multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
