OFFICE LOCATION Minneapolis, Minnesota with frequent trips to the State Capitol in Saint Paul, MN ABOUT US The Nature Conservancy is the world’s leading conservation organization, working in all 50 states and more than 33 countries. TNC POSITION SUMMARY Minnesota has a long tradition of being a good government policy state. TNC has a strong government relations program that dates back more than 25 years. The government relations assistant position has the opportunity to work with and support the Minnesota government relations team as they prepare for and during the 2012 legislative session (January to May, 2012). The GR Assistant will work in the Minneapolis office and will need to travel to the Minnesota State Capitol in Saint Paul on a daily basis during the legislative session to attend hearings, and provide support and/or information to the GR team. TNC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Government Relations Assistant provides administrative, research, community organizing and general office support to the Director of Government Relations or the government relation’s team. This may include organizing and maintaining media and community contact lists and media files, meeting preparations, research on public policy, community planning, zoning and other issues related to the work of The Nature Conservancy, managing administrative details for grassroots support of TNC legislative priorities, planning special events, handling general correspondence and providing clerical services. This is a short-term full-time position working 40 hours per week, beginning in January, 2012 and ending in May or when the 2012 Minnesota legislative session ends. TNC BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
