Bechtel has an open position for a Global Expatriate Tax Coordinator in our Glendale Tax Department, reporting directly to the Global Expatriate Tax Manager. This position will require approximately 20% administrative duties with the remainder time spent on a myriad of tax, human resources and payroll tax related issues involved with administering Bechtel’s expatriate tax program serving over 2,600 expatriate employees located in over 45 countries.  

 

Duties include but not limited to:

 

Tax Coordination Duties (80%)

 

- Preparation of annual tax protection calculations;

- Preparation of employee tax cost estimates for international projects;

- Daily communication (email, phone, letter, in person) with expatriate employees to explain the Company's tax policies and calculations;

- Working closely with tax vendor on global coordination of expatriate tax program services

 

- Administer quarterly calls;

 

- Maintain tax vendor database;

 

- Coordinate and distribute annual assignee authorization lists;

 

- Prepare and review tax status reports (e.g., tax returns, tax briefing compliance, etc);

 

- Monitor achievement key performance indicators;

 

- Communicate tax status information to GBUs;

 

- Invoice review and approval process;

 

- Monitor out-of-scope requests from vendor.


- Perform a variety of assignments and special projects;

 

- Administer the certificate of coverage process for bi-lateral social security agreements (e.g. apply for certificates, track expirations, request updated certificates, payroll coordination, SSA questions, maintain database, etc);

 

Administrative Duties (20%)

 

- Set up meetings for expatriate tax consultant for arrival and departure briefings and undertake associated administration;

- Maintain work schedules and task lists for global expatriate group;

 

- Preparing and editing work documents and presentations (e.g., PowerPoint presentation, Excel/Word, etc);

 

- General administrative duties (e.g., filing, ordering supplies, copying/scanning, scheduling meetings, letters, maintaining spreadsheets, etc);

 

- Maintain both internal and external SharePoint Sites;

 

- Maintain AIRINC vendor tables.

 

 

Required skills and experience:

 

- 2+ years of expatriate tax experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm or industry;

 

- Undergraduate degree (i.e., Bachelor of Science) at accredited university or college;


- Paralegal Certification is a plus;

 

- General working knowledge of expatriate tax program administration; and

 

- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
