Founded over 20 years ago, the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance (NWA) fosters partnerships and progress in conserving the natural, cultural, and recreational resources of the Nanticoke River watershed through dialogue, collaborative outreach, and education. Among the most respected watershed organizations in the region, the NWA leverages robust and powerful relationships with business and industry, academic institutions, government, non-profit groups, and a dedicated corps of volunteers to achieve its mission. The Executive Director (ED) oversees a $200,000 budget, three full-time staff and seasonal interns, and an office located near the banks of the Nanticoke River in Vienna, Maryland. NWA’s flagship programs are considered highly effective and help maintain the Nanticoke as one of the healthiest river systems in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

| Roles and Responsibilities: |
Qualifications The ED plays a leadership role in developing and implementing the strategic plan, programmatic plans, and annual work plans of staff. Successful candidates will be skilled in program administration, including budgeting, accounting, and management, and should be familiar with accounting software. The ED is responsible for maintaining the NWA’s position as a leading community service organization. Experience implementing successful outreach events and activities are required. The next ED will be responsible for building on past successes with strong leadership and management skills, creativity, and a passion for the work. The ED must demonstrate personnel management skills, including the ability to work with Board members having diverse backgrounds and interests, and should have experience directing, supervising, and motivating staff. Strong fundraising abilities are required, including proven capacity in grant writing, donor cultivation, and membership development. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse interest groups and individuals who may hold opposing views is preferred.
