CH2M HILL Environmental Siting & Licensing Associate Project Manager Jobs - Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Parsippany, NJ, or Chantilly, VA.

The challenge? Provide environmental permitting expertise for our rapidly growing siting, licensing and permitting practice for industrial projects. Our Environmental Siting and Licensing Associate Project Manager careers provide you with the opportunity to work on siting and licensing, primarily Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licensing of industrial facilities with a particularly focus on power, energy facilities (both traditional and renewable), gas pipelines, and electric transmission lines. Each day, as an Associate Project Manager, you will be the face of CH2M HILL with the responsibility for leading project teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of energy and utility projects. You should be a self-motivated professional with 5 years of successful experience, have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Planning and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each environmental siting and licensing project manager job.

Our Environmental Siting and Licensing Associate Project Managers:


  • Lead project teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of small to medium sized siting and licensing projects focused on power, energy facilities (both traditional and renewable), and gas pipelines and electric transmission lines, as well as, assisting the Sr. Project Manager in large siting and licensing projects
  • Demonstrate experience with FERC permitting of power, natural gas, and infrastructure projects, including FERC filings: 7(B) – abbreviated abandonment filing, 7(C) – full filing, 30 day Prior Notice Filing – abbreviated and FERC resource reports
  • Develop and implement project plans and work assignments, ensuring product quality, and on-schedule and on-budget completion
  • Work directly with clients to understand and meet their expectations, and leverage work to develop further or follow-on business opportunities for the firm
  • Demonstrate experience and a working knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements and deliverables
  • Have specific duties which include planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and coordination of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff
  • Serve as a technical resource as well as directly contribute to the technical delivery of the project deliverables
  • Have experience in the energy related siting and licensing process in the Eastern United States, preferably in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Washington, DC and prior experience in managing related tasks or projects
  • Demonstrate technical competence and project experience in natural, cultural or socioeconomic resource fields applicable to industrial (primarily conventional or renewable energy generation/transmission) siting and licensing or environmental permitting projects

  • This position has the flexibility to be attached to one of the following CH2M HILL offices: Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Parsippany, NJ, or Chantilly, VA.

Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Science, or Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in the energy related siting and licensing field in the United States, preferably in the Eastern US, including prior experience in managing related tasks or projects
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills and technical background and ability for siting and licensing projects
  • Understanding of FERC certification process and experience with permitting projects under FERC lead agency
  • Client development skills and strong written/verbal communications are essential for this position
  • Ability to integrate commercial, technical and execution aspects of project delivery into a full package for client satisfaction and CH2M HILL success

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the basic qualifications, the ideal candidate will also possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Science, or Engineering
  • 9 years experience in the energy related siting and licensing field in the western United States, preferably in the Eastern US and including prior experience in managing related tasks or projects
  • Experience managing large multidiscipline teams and successfully licensed a FERC lead project
