Payroll Specialist, EMEA
Reporting to the European Accounting Director, this newly created role will play a key function in supporting Tesla Motor’s European business units and be part of wider global Payroll team. The role will be based at Tesla’s Maidenhead offices in the UK and may require occasional overseas travel.
Role:
This role will involve co-ordinating the data to various EMEA payroll providers and working to a timetable so that the payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner, this will include checking and reconciling the payroll registers and preparing the journal entries for SAP. You will be co-ordinating the stock options and providing tax support for the expat community. You will also co-ordinate and manage the year end regulatory processes for the payrolls. Your main aim will be to offer an effective and efficient payroll service for EMEA countries, (circa 10) with the accurate and timely payment of salaries, working closely with our Payroll Partners. The job holder is responsible for vendor relations, as well as maintaining SOX compliance within the payroll process.
Responsibilities:
  • Processing of the UK and European payroll data in accordance with prescribed timetables, via external service providers
  • Verification of payroll output and review with your manager & HR
  • Reconciliation of payrolls and preparation of payroll journals for posting
  • Responding to all internal and external inquiries on payroll related issues, social insurance, and taxation
  • Responsibility for payroll audits, internal and external agencies in collaboration with the local Finance person
  • Identifying and executing payroll process improvements
  • Documenting and maintaining the payroll procedures manual
  • Working closely with our EMEA HR department and the payroll team in USA, to ensure compliance with local legislation
  • Supporting Finance with all yearend processes:
  • Processing the P11Ds, PSA reporting, P60s and P35s and their international equivalents

Requirements:
  • Relevant payroll experience in a corporate environment
  • In-depth working knowledge of EMEA payrolls (this will include UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium)
  • Experience working with databases and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Solid MS Office skills, in particular MS Excel
  • Exemplary attention to detail, with strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Ability to cope in a challenging and pressurised environment
  • Very high level of personal organisation
  • Team player with the ability to work independently

Additional Assets:
  • A relevant payroll qualification
  • Working knowledge of SAP and ADP
