Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Florida PE license.
• Minimum of 8 years of construction or construction engineering and inspection (CEI) experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of responsible charge for major CEI project on a major bridge or moveable bridge project.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to external and internal clients.
• Advanced project management and client management skills.
• Ability to bring complex disputes to satisfactory conclusion including negotiations and/or mediations.
• Strong supervisory and management skills for effective interaction with contractor, client, Engineer of Record and inspection staff.
• Strong technical skills in plan reading, and understanding and interpreting specifications and contract documents.


Job Description:

E.C. Driver & Associates, a subsidiary of URS, has an opportunity for a Project Resident Engineer to work with our Construction Engineering and Inspection team on a bridge replacement project in Lantana, Florida.

• Responsible for Management and Administration of major CEI projects.
• Applies advanced construction techniques to perform client and project development, resource management, and supervision of CEI activities as they relate to contract administration, cost and project management, quality, safety and time management.
• Interpret plans, specifications and contract documents.
• Designs protocols for the necessary work and peer review for quality control.
• Monitors project activities and materials testing and sampling requirements related to CEI site work.
• Reviews and monitors contractor’s construction CPM schedule and provides monthly review comments.
• Monitors internal CEI budget and tracks project progress, invoicing and percent complete.
• Coordinate CEI staff, including sub-consultants, to meet project inspection requirements.
• Prepare monthly Project Status Reports and Project Progress Reports.
• Monitor Project Permit requirements for compliance purposes.
• Is familiar with Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards governing construction projects.
• Assist in the development and growth of the CEI Department by assisting in the preparation of Letters of Interest and Letters of Response for advertised CEI projects within the State of Florida.

The nature of our consulting work requires interaction with coworkers, supervisors, clients, sub-consultants and members of governmental agencies. Communication skills are essential to the position. Written communication will typically be technical in nature.
