Environmental Services Technical Director – Electric Transmission Industry


The Environment business line is seeking a senior level professional to join our team as an Environmental Services Technical Director supporting the Electric Transmission Industry to lead the business development efforts and management of power transmission line projects. You’ll successfully sell and manage electrical power transmission line routing and permitting projects as well as NEPA projects according to schedules, budgets, and technical scope while maintaining quality


Responsibilities :

 

· Manages projects and programs on a local to national basis for the siting, permitting, construction and/or operational compliance of large new or modified transmission facilities.

 

· Works with national and regional power industry leaders, regional operations, key account managers, practice area leaders and other contributing staff to identify, pursue, capture and deliver multi-media environmental services to existing and prospective electric transmission industry clients.

 

· Leads and or assists in the development and implementation of pursuit and capture plans for specific opportunities and subsequent formal proposals.  

 

· Manages and/or participates as a core team member on specific client projects. Controls project cost, schedule, and quality of work. 

 

· Serves as account manager for clients developed through relationship based selling.

 

· Participates on appropriate projects in a peer review function to ensure project documents meet or exceed company standards and achieve client objectives as defined in the SOW or elsewhere.  

 

· Identifies and commits appropriate company resources to accomplish project goals. 

 

· Ensures that standards and requirements are met in the areas of health and safety, budget and cost control, overall project financial performance and quality for projects managed and/or directed.

 

· Reviews, communicates, and manages the project health and safety plan so that project personnel, client and subcontractors are aware of risks and hazards, and accidents are prevented.

 

· Recruits, mentors and develops staff necessary to grow market, providing leadership and an environment which encourages teamwork, collaboration, initiative and growth.   This is NOT line management.

 

· Enhances and augments professional standing and company business development success by presenting technical papers at industry and professional meetings and conferences.

 

· Contributes to the development of strategic direction and prioritization of initiatives in the transmission end market to promote growth of AECOM revenues and profitability in this end market.  

 

· Contributes to the development of the AECOM brand as a leader in the siting and permitting of transmission facilities.

 

Qualifications:

· B.S. or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Science (geology, hydrogeology, or chemistry) with 15-20 years of related experience is required.

· Advanced degree preferred.

· Strong technical background and experience in energy/transmission line siting and routing analysis, permitting, Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, NEPA analysis, and regulatory affairs.

· Strong organizational and project management skills required.

· Supervisory experience required.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to details and schedules.

· Must possess good interpersonal skills, maintain professional candor at all times.

· Must be analytical with attention to detail, able to multi-task, and well organized. 

· Must be able to travel for projects as needed.
