Job Description: The Infrastructure and Environmental Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Principal Environmental Planner for immediate employment in the AZ-NM office, which includes locations in Albuquerque, Phoenix, Tucson, Los Alamos and Las Cruces. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Environmental Planning specific to Department of Defense (DoD) planning projects including managing large NEPA projects for Army/Air Force/Navy. This position includes both technical and business development responsibilities.
Incumbent Responsibilities and Position Description:
Technical: • Recognized leader and authority in Environmental Planning. Extensive experience with the DoD. • This person would be a project manager and senior technical resource within the Environmental Planning Group.
• Day-to-day responsibilities would include independently managing project teams to complete permitting and environmental planning projects, particularly in the DoD sector. This position requires managing the efforts of one or more project teams and providing overall technical guidance, fostering successful client relationships, managing project budgets and schedules, and assuring quality control of the project deliverables.
• This position would utilize and expand DoD NEPA practice in Arizona, New Mexico, and/or Nevada
• This person would be working closely with the staff in URS’ Phoenix and Albuquerque environmental planning staff and may be asked to provide leadership on various pursuits or initiatives.
• This position would be considered a senior role within the AZ-NM-NV region with primary responsibility for managing projects and/or tasks on major projects.
Business Development: • Responsible for strategizing and preparing proposals for upcoming DoD ID/IQ contracts in AZ, NV, and NM. • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key subject matter experts and environmental managers within AFCEE, NAVFAC SW and/or IMC. • Actively involved in DoD professional management organizations such as SAME. • Consistently tracks and positions the firm for future procurements in the DoD environmental planning industry such as the USACOE NEPA ID/IQ contracts etc. • Established relationships with key environmental planning managers at the DoD installations in AZ, NV, and NM.
