Job Description: URS Corporation (NYSE:URS) is recruiting for a Transportation Engineer to provide engineering consulting for the Florida's Turnpike Enterprise in Ocoee, Florida. The candidate will be part of the Turnpike Planning group working on a wide variety of projects and providing technical expertise in the areas of Transportation Planning and Traffic Analysis.
The successful candidate will:
• Participate in transportation planning assignments including micro-simulation, travel demand forecasting, corridor studies, safety studies, traffic and revenue studies and interchange justification/modification reports. Convert travel demand modeling results to Design Hour Volume (DHV) and turning movements for analysis. • Translate traffic engineering and travel demand modeling concepts (including CUBE) and analysis results for preparation of graphics by others. • Prepare Traffic Technical Memorandums for Project Development and Environment (PD&E) studies • Prepare Typical Section, Equivalent Single Axle Loads (ESAL) and Lane Closure analysis memorandums for design projects. • Perform Development Regional Impacts (DRI) reviews for the feasibility and soundness of the proposed DRI and to verify that applicable engineering standards and practices are being met. • Collect traffic data in the field when needed. • Coordinate with other technical disciplines including conceptual design, environmental management, traffic operations, right of way and others.
We are searching for a self-starter who is able to set priorities, communicate well and who can perform as a technical specialist. The position will independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. The candidate must also carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Written and oral communication skills are required to successfully interact with the client, other consultants and URS staff for the Turnpike Planning group. On occasion, this position will prepare and conduct technical presentations to Turnpike management.
