The Infrastructure and Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Geotechnical Engineer for immediate employment in the Germantown, Maryland office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate relevant experience in geotechnical field observation, investigations and design/analysis specific to dams, civil structures, highways or utilities. The selected candidate will serve as the Resident Engineer for the construction of dam safety improvements at a large municipal reservoir in Maryland. The selected candidate will report to and be supported by the Dams Practice Team in Germantown, Maryland with the opportunity to work on future assignments local to the Mid Atlantic area as well as nationally.
Specific Incumbent Responsibilities will Include:
• Reviewing government, client, and industry local codes, regulations and standards. • Daily observation of all construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards. • Facilitating communication between the owner, contractor and engineer. • Coordinating and monitoring the sampling and testing program. • Conducting field data acquisition and investigations. • Scheduling and conducting meetings. • Reviewing and responding to contractor submittals and requests for information (RFI). • Preparing reports or other documentation of project activities.
