Minimum Requirements:

B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field.

Minimum two years of experience in database management, software development or technical consulting. No database administration experience required. Application development experience with Visual Studio. NET development environment. Knowledge of Visual Basic .NET and /or C#.

Knowledge of relational database management systems including experience in at least one of the following:
Microsoft SQL Server
Oracle
MySQL
Others

Ability to construct complex queries using SQL and T-SQL or PL/SQL.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Access. Ability to write VBA scripts.

Experience in ESRI suites of GIS products.

Experience with SharePoint Development, Microsoft Silverlight, ASP.NET, PHP.

Ability to author web services and/ or application development and integration with web services.

Must have good communication skills. The position requires regular interface with project groups to solve database related issues.

The successful candidate will be a team player, committed to meeting client and team schedules while working on several projects simultaneously. Candidate must be able to communicate technical details effectively to end users, team members, managers, and clients.


Job Description:

URS Chicago is an office of approximately 250 professionals servicing a number of private sector and public clients in environmental, infrastructure and planning market sectors.

We are looking to hire a Database Specialist for our Chicago office. Responsibilities include: managing and importing data from GPS units and importing chemical data from testing laboratories; creating tables; ad-hoc queries and reports; and writing visual basic macros for use in GIS and CADD maps and figures.

The successful candidate will modify client-specific data management solutions for a wide variety of projects. He/she will also be a creative thinker who has a track record of problem solving, pays strong attention to detail, and has the ability to quality check all data deliverables.
