Job Description: 
I. Job Summary

Incumbent will be responsible for conducting New Hire Orientation for all new employees hires the market area, with a focus on developing and implementing training for drivers.


II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.



  • Conduct New Hire Orientation for all new hires in the market area; with an emphasis on training and coaching new and existing drivers on use of applicable tools, equipment, and in fundamental routing practices; transfers expertise to drivers.

  • Develops and delivers training to new and existing employees, specifically, drivers on OSHA, DOT, and Waste Management policies and driving standards.

  • Re-trains after accidents, near misses, and/or negative observations.

  • Schedules and conducts Observation Behavior Assessments (OBA's) to evaluate driver knowledge, operating behaviors, and compliance with federal regulations.

  • Follows-up observations with constructive coaching and retraining when deficiencies are observed.

  • Conducts driver interviews, as needed.

  • Investigates, reviews and controls implementation of safety regulations and company policies and procedure and monitors for compliance.

  • Assists investigations of accidents and emergency spills.

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc) part of the work day;

  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds part of the work day;

  • Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc) part of the work day;

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the work day;

  • Normal setting for this job is office setting and/or on-route.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.


A. Education and Experienc


  • Required: Associate's Degree, or equivalent experience, and three years previous experience.

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience, and three years previous experience.



B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements


  • CDL (Commercial Drivers License)


C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required


  • Driving experience, driver training, and safety training may be required.
