Minimum Requirements:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
• 6 months of experience in janitorial/maintenance field
• Must be able to work independently
• Must be able to perform manual and semi-skilled general housekeeping and maintenance duties associated with upkeep of facility floor surfaces.
• Must be willing and able to operate power industrial equipment (i.e., propane powered riding sweeper/scrubber, walk behind scrubber, etc.)
• Must be able to perform minor repairs/PMs for the propane powered riding scrubbers and electric walk behind scrubbers
• Must be able to work with various cleaners, chemicals and hazardous waste materials.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
• Must possess basic computer keyboarding skills for data entry purposes.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
• Power industrial equipment experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Requires frequent moving of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
2. Operate power industrial equipment (i.e., propane powered riding sweeper/scrubber, walk behind scrubber, etc.)
3. Exposure to dust, noise, fumes, toxic materials (i.e., bleach, latex, cleaning fluids, caustic soaps, etc.), flammable gas.
4. Work in close and/or hot spaces.
5. Heavy lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, walking, standing for prolonged periods of time.
6. Work in adverse weather conditions
7. Requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods and frequent bending, twisting, reaching and turning.
8. May be required to work from heights, ladders and elevated platforms.
9. Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must wear steel-toed safety shoes, safety glasses and gloves etc. as required.
2. Coping with demands (stresses) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
3. Keyboard skills and visual activity associated with the use of keyboards and terminals.
4. Must be able to respond to emergency alarms.
5. Requires the ability to special cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers, buffing machines, golf carts etc.
6. Must be able to work overtime as needed for special functions or activities.

Hours/Schedule:Sunday –Thursday, 4:00pm – 12:30am

Job Description:

URS Corporation is seeking a Scrubber Sweeper (second shift) to be based at our client facility in Aberdeen, Maryland!

JOB CONCEPT
Perform a wide variety of facility cleaning assignments using limited supervision. Actions are normally determined by specific instructions from the supervisor or by following well defined procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Maintains professional and courteous customer relations including, client, vendor, and internal team.
2. Active participation in safety meetings. Maintains safety work practices as defined by URS.
3. Responsible for the general cleanliness of the distribution center and its satellite facility.
4. Gathers and disposes of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with the use of powered equipment.
5. Observes appearance and condition of the premises and reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or situations requiring immediate attention.
6. Notify maintenance personnel as to equipment problems found during normal operation.
7. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
8. Make minor repairs or adjustments to the equipment being operated to include; rider sweeper scrubber and walk behind scrubber.
9. Assist with minor repairs in the facility as directed by supervision.
