Position Overview:

Whole Foods Market is seeking individuals interested in joining store leadership. The Specialty Associate Team Leader position prepares Team Members to be successful leaders at Whole Foods. Candidates must be prepared to think, learn, and contribute all while consistently communicating and modeling the Whole Foods Market vision and goal. Our Specialty Department encompasses Cheese, Wine, Beer, Housewares and more. Specialty Associate Team Leader performs all functions necessary to daily operation of the department; inventory control; ensure maintenance of back room and floor; train and support Specialty Team Members; and has desire to move into a leadership position.



Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Specialty Associate Team Leader Will Do:


Assigned by TL with goal to master all areas of responsibility:
1. TEAM MEMBER DEVELOPMENT
Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods vision and goal.  Assist in the interview, selection, training, development, and counseling of Team Members in a manner which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turnover. Discuss hiring and termination decisions with guidance of Specialty Team Leader, Store Team Leader, and Coordinator. Establish and maintain a positive work environment.
2. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Manage inventory to achieve targeted gross profit margin. Manage the ordering process to meet Whole Foods Market quality standards, maintain competitive pricing, and achieve targeted sales.
3. MERCHANDISING/MARKETING MANAGEMENT
Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising in support of regional and national vision.
4. COMMUNICATION
Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Team Leader, STL, Regional Team, Team Leaders, and all Team Members. Model and cultivate effective interdepartment and interstore communication.
5. MANAGEMENT REPORTING
Provide accurate, complete information in daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and "ad hoc"
management reports.
6. REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory rules and standards, including: OSHA, Department of Labor, Health and Sanitation, FDA, Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).


Must Have/Be:


1. Minimum 2 years retail grocery experience or equivalent.
2. Analytical ability and proficiency in math needed to calculate margin, monitor profitability, and manage inventory.
3. Comprehensive product knowledge.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to train.
5. Demonstrated decision-making ability and leadership skills.
6. Ability to perform physical requirements of position.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in operation of bailer (must be 18), dumpster, and forklift.
