CH2M HILL Senior Structural Engineer Jobs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The challenge? Helping our clients create the most structurally sound and efficient manufacturing facilities possible. Our Senior Structural Engineer career is your opportunity to work on some of the most state-of-the-art, high tech manufacturing facilities. Each day our senior structural engineers design industrial buildings, miscellaneous steel support structures, concrete foundations, seismic restraint, and retrofit existing structures. Material design is mainly steel and concrete but may also include masonry. You should be a self motivated professional with a proven and successful 10 year track record as a professional Structural Engineer, possess a BS in Civil Engineering and have a strong desire to grow both personally and professionally with each structural engineering project.

Our Senior Structural Engineers:

Coordinate with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical and process.
Analyze structures using various structural engineering software programs.
Prepare structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials.
Exercise judgment required in developing plans or alternatives. Work with mentors to assure quality plans.
Perform field activities such as observation of construction activities.
Review construction submittals for conformance to contract and design documents.
Supervise technicians on a project-by-project basis.
Assist senior engineers on large, complex projects.
Perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of engineering principles.
Work with STAAD, RAMSTEEL, MathCAD, AutoCAD and Microstation to create and perfect structural designs.

Basic Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis

8 years experience in the structural engineering field with at least 2 years of industrial design project experience using concrete and steel

Registered Professional Civil and/or Structural Engineer

Must have knowledge of current IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI codes and seismic provisions

2 years of management or lead experience

Preferred Qualifications

M.S. in Structural engineering

Degree Required

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree

Certifications Required

Professional engineering license
