The IE Finance and Accounting of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Accounting Manager for immediate employment in the Tampa, Florida office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Finance and Accounting, specific to the Engineering and Architecture industry.
This position will be part of the finance and accounting team for the Florida/Latin America Region, reporting to the Regional Controller. This team is responsible for a wide-range of financial activities and reporting in support of operations.
Incumbent Responsibilities:
• Works directly and daily with all levels of operations within the region to ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance with IE policies and procedures.
• Performs duties across the IE accounting system: Billing, AR, AP, General Ledger, Timekeeping, Payroll, Taxes, Audit and Business systems.
• Monitors contract and legal compliance.
• Evaluates new business processes in relation to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
• Prepares timely and accurate financial information for financial and operation management.
• Reviews and analyzes general ledger accounts and data.
• Reconciles accounts, including revenue over/under accruals, unbilled G/L sub-ledger and conversion accounts.
• Assists billers with reconciliation issues.
• Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries.
• Conducts internal audits of contracts and audit system assessments.
• Works on basic external audits or moderately complex external audits with guidance from Regional Controller.
• Identifies areas of noncompliance within IE.
• Exercises financial control over changes in contracts and assure compliance with contractual Terms and Conditions and insurance issues.
• Ensures that general project controls are done per Policy and Procedures (P&P). Review Estimate At Completions to advise Project Managers and Management of actual or potential overruns and report reasons for occurrences so that timely corrective action may be taken. Additionally, to ensure that revenue is properly recognized in accordance with cost to cost basis and not over or under stated.
• Works with Regional Controller regarding customer audits, internal reviews and compliance audits, systems integration and operation.
• Reviews billed and unbilled receivables and report problems
• Oversees the review of documentation prior to project set up to ascertain required approvals are present prior to opening or modifying a project.
Financial Responsibilities:
• Provides Region, Office and Project Managers with timely and orderly financial information.
• Reviews budgets, forecasts and monthly divisional operating reports, analyzing variances.
• Assists in preparation of operational analysis, analyze overhead expenses and find and report explanations for variances, make recommendations for cost reductions.
• Reviews Capital Expenditures and Leases to determine if necessary, budgeted or reimbursable.
• Assists General Accounting with account analysis.
Administrative Responsibilities:
• Monitors operations to assure general compliance with P&Ps and minimize financial risk exposure to the Company.
• Assists Administrative Managers in office operations, including financial analysis of leases, outsourcing contracts, insurance issues, etc.
• Provides training and support to Project Managers on financial management and reporting systems.
• Ensures integrity of internal accounting controls and procedures.
