Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field.
Minimum five years experience in managing the construction of K-12 educational facilities including managing staff during design.
Experience with an A/E firm providing design services including the use of CAD software, preconstruction and procurement activities.
Experience managing multiple projects at multiple sites.
Ability to work with educational staff and governmental employees.
Experience with Project and Program Management software systems such as Prolog, Expedition or Constructware or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience. The Infrastructure and Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented senior construction manager for immediate employment for the District of Columbia Office of Public Facilities Management, Educational department. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate experience in providing construction management related services.
URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting and challenging projects. The candidate will coordinate all activities associated with DC Public School Modernization & Renovation Program. The work includes major re-configuration at 12 schools, minor re-configuration at 18 schools, and completion of many deferred maintenance items at 21 schools.
General duties and responsibilities:
Communication • Primary communication point of contact for disseminating information to client, stakeholder, intra-agency • Primary AE and Builder point of contact / direction • Leads SIT Team Meetings; coordinates SIT Team Meetings as required
Administration • Assists with procurement of AE's, builder's, vendors, consultants by developing scopes of work, recommendations / selections, contract negotiations, etc. • Contract administrator of design, construction, and vendor contracts, etc. • Provides Monthly Updates: PM Activity Report, Monthly Report, etc. • Responsible for regulatory approval coordination • Conducts regular project team meetings • Conducts design review meeting, design coordination, constructability reviews, etc. • Coordination / Administration / Submissions requirements for CBE participation, workforce inclusion, etc. • Responsible for ensuring meeting minutes are issued regularly • Document Control (i.e. contract documents, correspondence, change orders, etc.) • Coordination with testing agencies • Schedule Updates • Project Close-Out Administration (i.e. commissioning, punchlist, training, warranty • administration, O&M Manuals) • Claims management
Financial • Develops and updates the project budget • Review, negotiate, and approve GMP • Updates the project budget monthly • Submits Requisitions • Processes and approves payment applications • Tracks PO balances • Reviews and approves change orders
