Minimum Requirements: • BSCE with emphasis in structural engineering • Illinois PE and SE license • Minimum eight years of experience working as design and lead structural engineer for bridge projects • Strong experience with ASD, LFD, and LRFD concrete and steel bridge design and detailing • Working knowledge with IDOT, ISTHA, AASHTO and AREMA requirements • Proficient with STAAD, STRUDL or equivalent • Proficient with Microsoft Office, primarily Word, Excel, and Power Point • Production experience with MicroStation • Strong communication, oral presentation and technical writing skills • Experience with development of construction cost estimates • Experience leading other supporting engineers in development of bridge designs and plans on schedule and within budget Job Description: Do the best work of your life! The Infrastructure Service Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented senior structural engineer for immediate employment in the Chicago office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in design and engineering of bridges and related structures for transportation projects. The incumbent can look forward to providing a lead role in all phases of highway and railroad projects having complex structures of widely varying types and complexity as a major component. Incumbent Responsibilities: • Producing, leading, and managing the production of design, plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for major highway and railroad bridge projects • Project-related communication with clients and subconsultants • Collaboration with survey, roadway, railroad, and other disciplines • Development of qualifications-based and cost-based proposals • Planning and leading work, performing detail checking and independent technical reviews for bridge projects • This position requires the flexibility to visit project sites throughout the Midwest to manage bridge inspection and verification of field conditions during design and construction. • Managing and mentoring staff.
