Minimum Requirements: URS has several exciting opportunities for experienced Craftsmen, Electrician and Mechanics. Personnel filling these opportunities will be a part of our Core 6 Team, based in the Columbia, Maryland office. Deployments will be required as projects are awarded – duration of deployments may vary from 1 to 6 months, based on the project. These are long term, full time opportunities!! Essential Job Requirements: • Follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. • Interpret, explain and apply building codes, rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities. • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps. • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous • Maintain records and submit in a timely manner. • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. • The ability to pass pre-employment physical • Additional requirements to be discussed during interview(s)
Clearance Requirements • Currently possess a TS / SCI or higher clearance • Willing to submit for additional clearances as required Job Description: Carpenters • Perform skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, construction, alteration, forming, framing, and finishing of buildings and facilities. • Construct, install, maintain and repair woodwork. • Effectively and safely operate a variety of tools and equipment used in the skilled carpentry trade. • Interpret shop drawings, sketches and work orders. • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. • Observe legal and defensive driving techniques. • Perform heavy physical labor. Electricians • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Mechanics • Assemble, install, test, and maintain mechanical equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. • Installation of pipe, tubing, connections and fittings for to complete hydronic systems • Inspect mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. • Plan layout and installation of mechanical systems, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
