Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma

Minimum five (5) years experience in related field inspector position and two (2) years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection.

Experience must include:
1. Concrete Field Inspection
2. Asphalt Roadway Inspection
3. Earthwork Construction Inspection
4. Pile Driving Inspection
5. Advance MOT Development (for major bridge and road construction)

Or a Civil Engineering degree and one (1) year of road and bridge experience with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year.

Must have the following CTQP Certifications:
•Concrete Field Testing Technician levels 1 and 2
•Asphalt Paving Technician levels 1 and 2
•Earthwork Construction Inspection levels 1 and 2
•Pile Driving Inspection
•ATTSA Advance MOT

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
•Must be able to safely navigate construction work sites - roads, buildings, bridges and areas with uneven terrain.
•Must be able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites.
•Must be able to climb ladders, work at heights, and be able to work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
•Valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to travel and drive regularly, often long distances.


Job Description:

This discipline is responsible for safely executing field inspections, documenting observations, and verifying work performed in compliance with specifications for construction projects. The individual in this role is also responsible for performing inspection duties at various stages of construction for code and contract specification compliance. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Working closely with Senior Inspectors, Project Administrator or engineers to verify and document proper execution of project designs.
• Reading and understanding designs, specifications and plans, and scheduling milestones based on the contract for various construction projects.
• Interprets design plans and verifies that the actual product being constructed conforms to the design and specifications.
• Documents and verifies that design specifications are implemented in the execution of projects.
• Collects and reviews design submittal specification data and documents acceptability.
• Documents and reports design variances.
• Verifies that the contractor is creating project as-built based on change orders, information requests, design clarifications and shop drawings.
• Uses principles and theories of science and engineering to prepare solutions to technical problems.
• Produces detailed reports, documenting that construction is adhering to the design requirements.
• Prepares daily report on the status of the work, including confirmation of work accomplished, available resources and jobsite conditions.
• Prepares and updates various documents and spreadsheets for inspection reports.
• Participates in meetings to discuss design requirements and any variances requested.
• Assists with resolution of Request for Information (RFI).
• Processes payment review, confirms quantities and percentages of work completed in validating the contractors payment request.
• Reviews initial schedules submitted and schedule values with Project Manager, including materials and labor utilized last month and verifies quantities on site.
• Relays instructions from the owner and the design professional to the contractor.

The individual in this position may be required to obtain certifications in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
