Minimum Requirements:

Requirements/Expectations:
• 4 year trade school, apprenticeship certification or in lieu of education 4+ years as industrial HVAC technician
• In addition to education, a minimum 8+ years as an industrial Central Utility Plant operator at a journeyman level (3+ years experience with a journey level license can be substituted for 5 years experience).
• Must posses a valid Philadelphia Class "A" Stationary Engineer License or approved equivalent.
• Requires working knowledge of engineering fundamentals necessary for effective and safe operation of complex electrical and mechanical building equipment and systems.
• Experienced working with steam systems (e.g. high pressure steam boilers), centrifugal chillers, air handling units, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, VAV pneumatic controls, and building automation control systems.
• High attention to detail and excellent follow up skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Friendly, cooperative, customer service-minded attitude; team player.
• Experience applying proper safety practices and following procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
• Ability to work with little or no direction at times.
• Prior use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
• Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

Physical Requirements:
• Have the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Have the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
• Have the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
• Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
• Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Have the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Have the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant for shift.
• Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:
• Coping with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Training and experience in Metasys and/or Tridium building automation systems.
• EPA approved Universal CFC certification.

Job Description:

URS has a Central Utility Plant Operator/Stationary Engineer position available at our client facility in Collegeville, Pennsylvania!

Position Description:
Responsible for the care and maintenance of the boiler rooms, central utility plants (CUP) and associated equipment. Also coordinates subcontractor activities and assists craft technicians in other facility maintenance trades and services.

Essential Functions:
• Identifies and corrects problems with the CUP equipment such as boilers, chillers, chilled water and condenser pumps, air compressors and cooling towers.
• Monitors building automation systems to ensure proper operation of air handling equipment and room temperatures including start up and shutdown, and normal operating conditions. Makes adjustments as necessary.
• Takes daily chiller and boiler readings, submits reports as required to meet local and state requirements.
• Maintains/performs Preventative Maintenance schedules and building tours.
• Repairs piping systems including pumps, motors, and valves.
• Troubleshoots electrical control circuits and ability to read schematics.
• Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
• Under general supervision, performs tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Understands and complies with all Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) programs and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
