Minimum Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the day to day operations of the Electrical Department including assignment of staff for projects.
• Understands and leads the development of manpower and labor cost requirements for projects.
• Provides technical guidance to the department. Acts as a source of technical knowledge for the group. Leads the collection and evaluation of lessons learned across the department.
• Continually refines the work processes, tools and knowledge resources that support improvement of the discipline’s work performance.
• Works with Business Development developing proposals and presenting company capabilities. Assist in developing scopes of work, budgets, and project design basis.
• Supports the company’s relationship with and participation in key engineering, codes, and standards organizations.
• Establishes and monitors employee development planning and goal setting for the department. Manages salary administration, employee development, hiring, etc. for the department.
EDUCATION:

• Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate electrical engineering from a four year accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE:

• 15+ years of experience with engineering, procurement and construction projects and operating facilities. With a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity.

OTHER REQUIREMNTS:

• TS/SCI with Polygraph or ability to obtain clearance within one year of employment is required.
• Professional Engineering license preferably in Maryland or Virginia required.
• Demonstrates consistent, effective, and efficient written and oral communication skills at the project level (client, internal resources, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, etc.).


Job Description:

URS Corporation is looking for an Electrical Department Manager to join their growing team in Columbia, MD. This individual will have direct responsibility and oversight of our electrical department which consist of approximately 15 engineers and designers. The Columbia office is focused on providing engineering support for a wide range of facilities supporting the Intelligence Community including office space, SCIF spaces, data centers and related support infrastructure. The Electrical Department Manager 0will be challenged to lead this group in the renovation, expansion, and construction of complex electrical systems including redundant UPS systems, stand-by and emergency generation. This position requires an intimate knowledge of computer and data room electrical systems and critical power systems.

This position will report to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for insuring that the department is equipped with up-to-date engineering tools, technical capabilities and procedures to successfully execute projects.

The Department Manager will work closely with the office management to implement objectives and plans in support of projects. The Department Manger continually works with the group to develop long-range goals, mentor personnel, and refine operating procedures.
