This position requires successful completion of the URS Project Management Certification program within 6 months of hire. This certification program is a series of learning modules and is available on-line through the URS Learning Management System at no financial cost to the employee. Job Description: URS is one of the largest, global, fully integrated engineering, construction and technical services firms with capabilities to support the full project life cycle. We offer a full range of program management; planning, design and engineering; science and technical services; contracting and construction management; operations and maintenance; and decommissioning and closure. Business lines include private sector (mining, oil and gas, power, pipeline, commercial-industrial, manufacturing and chemical-pharmaceutical); infrastructure (surface transportation, rail and mass transit, aviation, ports and harbors, bulk handling and water resources, treatment and distribution); and federal programs. With more than 50,000 employees in a network of offices in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Europe, our broad-based expertise is a valued resource for federal, state and local government agencies, as well as Fortune 500 and other private industry clients worldwide. URS is a publicly held company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the stock symbol URS.
URS is currently embarking on a transformational growth of mining services in the Central Midwest Region, where the mining industry is experiencing a high level of exploration and development. A key component of this growth objective is the development of a mining practice in the Central Midwest that will be an expansion of the current mining practice in the area.
This is an opportunity to join our dynamic and growing Business Line and be responsible for leading our Central Midwest mining practice. The position will help define and lead mining growth strategies, and align the operations of multiple offices under a common plan.
Travel will be required to mine and mineral properties, some of which will be remote and some could be overseas. URS enforces a strict international travel policy by only allowing employees to travel to "safe" countries for established clients. Travel could be occasionally required on short notice because of the consulting nature of providing services to mining clients and responding rapidly to needs that may arise as result of natural disasters or operational mishaps. However, such travel could also be to scenically rewarding locations of unparalleled beauty worldwide that are typically not seen by the touring public. EOE M/F/D/V
