Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Anthropology with 6 years of experience. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Access. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to conduct research, record searches, prepare research designs, lead teams of archaeologist in the field, prepare DPR 523 series forms, and have experience in site recordation and evaluating cultural resources for NRHP and CRHR eligibility. Additionally, applicant should be able to hike approximately 10 miles per day in rugged terrain while carrying personal and company equipment.


Job Description:

The candidate will be working under the principal investigator and be responsible for directing a team or multiple teams of archaeologists in pedestrian surveys, evaluation testing, data recovery, monitoring, research and technical writing.

Familiarity with handheld GPS units (Trimble/Garmin) and DPR-523 series site recording forms. The candidate will be proficient in prehistoric artifact types and materials, as well as site identification and procedures for recording these resources according to California state requirements. Projects may include extensive linear and large-scale project covering several thousand acres for intensive and reconnaissance level pedestrian survey throughout the California desert.

The candidate(s) will be working as part of the Cultural Resources Group based primarily out of the San Diego office. The candidate(s) will be working under the direct supervision of Project Principal Investigator in groups of Archaeological Field Technicians ranging in size from 2 to 10.

Candidate must be able to communicate clearly with Field Technicians and the Principal Investigator and be able to organize field data during site recording, evaluation and mitigation phases. Large scale project possibly impacting numerous cultural resources sites that will be based on the data collected.
