Position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering (MS Preferred, Power Option), California PE Registration (or ability to obtain within 6 months), and a minimum of 10 years experience in power system studies, protection and controls. Experience should include a working knowledge of system modeling, load flow studies, short circuit studies, protective device coordination studies and arc flash studies utilizing computer software for PC’s. Experience with SKM DAPPER, CAPTOR, ARC FLASH and A_FAULT modules preferred. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable at setting and testing electro-mechanical and solid state relays and programming SEL and Schneider/Alstom microprocessor based relays and ancillary equipment. The ideal candidate should also have a complete knowledge of typical wiring for protection schemes and controls for 7.2 kV through 115 kV substations, large power transformers, underground feeders, large motors through 65,000 HP (induction and synchronous), 15 kV switchgear and circuit breakers (VCB and SF 6 ). Candidate should be comfortable in the field, troubleshooting in substations, participating in equipment start-ups and commissioning during construction, and working with high voltage operations and maintenance electricians on day-to-day problems.
