Job Description:  CH2M HILL Associate Planner - Redding, California

The challenge? Helping our communities stay safely on the move. Our Planner professionals provide planning support for a range of projects, gaining valuable experience to craft solutions to meet and balance large public infrastructure challenges. You will coordinate with other CH2M HILL professionals and will interface with external agencies and clients. Assignments are well-defined and require excellent attention to detail. You will often work independently but are expected to communicate your progress and any questions effectively with managers and others providing work assignments.
 
Our Project Planners:


  • Manage small to medium sized NEPA/CEQA and permitting projects including all aspects of permit preparation, agency coordination, and client interactions.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of CEQA/ NEPA and provide examples of environmental documents prepared by applicant directly or under direct supervision.
  • Assist with the permitting requirements for projects that involve federal and state endangered species, anadromous fish impacts, and impacts to Waters of the U.S. as defined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Coordinate with the California State Lands Commission, Central Valley Flood Protection Board, and Regional Water Quality Control Boards.
  • Work in a fast-paced environmental permitting atmosphere, under pressure, with considerable client deadlines.
  •  Have extensive knowledge of California and Oregon water systems, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation or CA Department of Water Resources experience, or similar background.
  •  Understand water construction methods and environmental impact analysis associated with working in and around endangered fish (salmonid) species.
  •  Manage USACE Section 404 permitting including Nationwide permit, Individual permits, and Letters of Permission, and an understanding of Section 404, 401, and 106 as well as Section 7 and 10 consultation processes.

Basic Qualifications



  • BS degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, or equivalent experience.
  •   7 to 10 years experience.

Preferred Qualifications



  • NEPA/CEQA (National Environment Policy Act/CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) required.
  • Previous USACE/ RWQCB/ CDFG permitting experience required.
  • Wetland delineation/ biological experience with ESA species, terrestrials and/or plants preferred.

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
