Waste Management, Inc. is the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America. The company serves nearly 20 million municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential customers through a network of 367 collection operations, 355 transfer stations, 273 active landfill disposal sites, 16 waste-to-energy plants, 134 recycling plants, and 111 beneficial-use landfill gas projects.
Waste Management is seeking an energetic individual contributor who is motivated to help us transform the way technology is used and how we leverage Pricing and Profitability Management capabilities to capture value from the market. This Business Analyst / Project Lead position is responsible for combining technical expertise with business acumen to conduct business process and requirements analyses, solution assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology solutions with Waste Management business strategy.
In this role, you will serve as a technology partner with Waste Management business sponsors in defining effective solutions to business needs using technology. Further, you will identify, document & manage business requirements, specifications, business processes changes and recommendations related to the proposed solution via industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, workflow analysis, functional decomposition analysis, use cases and user stories. Lastly, you will participate in and, in some cases, lead projects through the use of effective project management skills, in all phases of the SDLC to deliver critical information technology projects.

II. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other ancillary duties may be assigned.
- Lead business/functional requirements workshops
- Demonstrate and share best pricing practices with business stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Analyze and map business requirements based on functional and technology capabilities
- Perform fit/gap analysis against "as-is" business process and drive toward concensus to the optimized future-state business process
- Develop user stories, use cases and wireframes and demonstrate the solution in the context of the business requirements and value proposition
- Produce high quality functional requirements and design documentation to drive scope of internal product development releases
- Participate in program reviews and presentations of work products to demonstrate value to the senior leadership team
- Identify/suggest improvements to requirements tools, templates and processes
- Leverage and contribute to the knowledge assets for the pricing program and related work products
- Develop develop a keen understanding of WM's business, the work product and domain knowledge
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
May guide and advise less-experienced analysts and act as team leader on more complicated systems projects. IV Qualifications
A. Education / Experience Required:
- Bachelor of Science in business or technical discipline
- MBA or Masters with concentration in math, statistics, finance, economics, or engineering is a plus
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in key functions as described in a corporate IT or software professional services/consulting setting.
- Work experience must include pricing, marketing, finance or related domain areas
- Extensive hands-on business analysis experience with the ability to lead requirements/design sessions, driving solution design decisions using their solid grasp on the business problem
- Ability to facilitate workshops with stakeholders, subject matter experts and super users to capture requirements, write use cases and user stories, and design the future-state workflow processes
- Keen attention to detail, strong organization skills, ownership and accountability
- Extensive experience interfacing with other IT and business organizations to reach agreement on scope, determining organizational readiness, and driving project scope through the SDLC
- Strong analytical (statistics, financial analysis) skills, an aptitude for analytical concepts, and ability to communicate them effectively and confidently with business partners, project team members and senior management.
- Outstanding teamwork skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting to groups of managers or executives up to C-Level attendees
- Work experience in a functional lead, senior role on a project team, or project management is desired
- Proven track record of managing and meeting project deadlines and delivering high-quality services and project work products
- Time management, issue/risk reporting, and work estimation skills are a must, as well as the ability to be flexible and creative under multiple deadlines
- Overall understanding of technology concepts, trends, and capabilities with ability to quickly evaluate viability of functional requirements to apply to the organization's environment and direction
- Proficiency in working on projects using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and able to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks.
- Willing to travel for workshops at alternate sites if necessary, although infrequent
B Desired Skills and Knowledge
- Working experience with price management and optimization solutions involving pricing analysis, price calculation, price setting, deal execution, and profitability performance reporting is desired
- Work experience with Enterprise software products such as Oracle, Siebel, SAP, etc. is a plus
- Previous project management experience and leading functional and technical workstreams is desired
- Proficiency in definition of systems strategy, developing systems requirements, designing and prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures, and implementing practical business solutions
- Facilitating the execution of all testing activities and providing test data as required for all testing (user roles and scopes, dummy data, etc)
- Experience with tools supporting requirements management, test management and defect management process (i.e. Rally, Quality Center)
