Staff Biologist - Santa Ana, CA
The challenge? Provide environmental scientific support for our rapidly growing siting, licensing, and permitting practice. Our Environmental Staff Scientist career path will give you the opportunity to play a role in all stages of siting and permitting projects in the industrial and energy sectors, including fuel pipelines, wind turbine plants, and power plant facilities. In this entry level position, you will serve as a key team member working with scientists, engineers, project managers, and other project staff. You should be a self-motivated professional with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Biology, Ecology, or similar environmental discipline and have a desire to build a career in environmental consulting services.
Our Environmental Staff Scientists:
- Travel to client/project locations to perform data collection and have significant interaction with both clients and the regulatory community.
- Assist with regulatory documentation development including FERC documents, Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, siting reports, and environmental permit applications and preparing NEPA documents.
- Gain experience in environmental permitting of energy facilities and/or pipelines including: NEPA (and state equivalents), USACE 404 wetland permitting, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) filings, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and RCRA, environmental permitting, SPCC plan preparation, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan preparation.

- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Biology, Ecology, or similar environmental discipline
- 2-5 years of experience in the industrial siting and licensing field in the Western United States
- A demonstrated technical competence and project experience in natural, cultural or socioeconomic resource fields applicable to industrial (primarily conventional or renewable energy generation/transmission) siting and licensing or environmental permitting projects.
- Environmental consulting experience
- Understanding of FERC regulated projects
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Background in botany
· Ability to identify raptors and perform avian surveys.
