Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in biology or other biology-related discipline (e.g., ecology, wildlife management, resource management, etc.).
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience in southern California or southwest US
• Masters degree in biology or other biology-related discipline can substitute for 1 year of work experience.
• Or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience.
• Experience with Southern California regulations, habitats, and fauna.
• Experience in conducting bird surveys (point counts, raptor/migratory birds)
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) software.
• Able to provide examples of excellent writing and communication skills.

The San Diego office of URS is actively seeking a creative, talented Wildlife Biologist for immediate employment as part of its Biological Resources Team. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate experience in biological consulting specific to southern California. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to a wide range of public and private projects throughout southern California and the western United States.

The successful applicant will be responsible for working on complex and challenging projects with senior guidance. They will be responsible for coordinating and conducting general wildlife surveys, and focused sensitive species surveys for which they are qualified. Must be skilled in bird identification for southwestern US. They will be responsible for preparation of CEQA/NEPA and ESA assessment documents as well and participating teams of field biologists; organizing data collection for subsequent analysis; and assisting with proposals for projects or programs. Projects are usually located in central and southern California, but opportunities for travel to other areas of the US occur occasionally. Position requires candidate to be a self-starter, able to work well as a team member, and travel to site locations for periods up to 10 to 14 days during the field season.
