• Must have obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from a 4 year accredited college or university within the past 24 months or will obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from a 4 year accredited college or university prior to the start of this position.
• Less than 12 months professional experience in Accident Analysis, Hazards Analysis, Criticality Analysis, Regulatory Programs, Consequence Analysis/PRA Technical Specification/TSRs, Unreviewed Safety Questions & 50.59 Reviews, Radiological Engineering, Emergency Management/Preparedness, Instrument Uncertainty/SIL, Computer Software IV & V, Fire Protection, Conduct of Maintenance/Operations/Ops Consulting, Readiness Assessments & Startup Services, Spent Fuel Storage & D&D Planning, Regulations Analysis/Licensing Documentation, License Event Reports/License Amed. Requests.
• Candidate must be eligible to obtain a DOE Q clearance and access to Commercial Nuclear Facilities.
• Candidate must be able to travel on business as needed and/or relocate to one of regional offices
• Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Job Description:
URS SMS LLC is seeking a Nuclear Safety Basis Engineer to be based in our Oak Ridge, TN location.
Typical Responsibilities include:
• Candidates will be expected to assist in growing the existing customer base and expand into new markets.
• The candidate must have good writing and interpersonal skills.
• Preparing written engineering reports, technical analyses, and assessments.
• Preparing Fire Hazards Analysis for DOE Nuclear Facilities.
• Conducting design reviews associated with construction and commissioning activities.
• Providing fire protection field services to nuclear facility operation and maintenance personnel.
• Selecting and justifying fire protection systems and program requirements for new facilities and facilities undergoing modifications.
• Performing fire protection inspections, appraisals and evaluations.
• The candidate may be required to develop calculation notes in support of HAs involving radiological and chemical hazards.
• Support detailed phases of testing for a project, including input to design and construction for facility safety, testability, operability and maintainability.
• The candidate is expected to have the ability to develop and review accident analysis calculations for various DOE sites.
• Inspections, assessments and audits that support manufacturing or procurement processes (e.g., high reliability equipment, critical components, software, specifications, and quality assurance plans.
