Job Description:  CH2M HILL's Proposal Coordinator Careers - Denver, Colorado
The Challenge!  Under the general direction of the Manager of Proposals the Proposal Coordinator will support the Operations & Maintenance Business Group and the Business Development team across the country and major sales activities and initiatives.

This position provides support and/or leadership on pursuits ranging from highly complex, strategic efforts to smaller efforts. You will work with detailed direction from a proposal manager or sales manager, leading the preparation and production of small proposals. You may also assist on portions of major/strategic efforts. The understanding of business objectives, priorities, and strategy in the BD and proposal publishing environment is a key component to this position. The Proposal Coordinator needs to understand and have experience in how BD publishing integrates with and affects other areas. You will develop strong working relationships with sales managers and the Business Development team. Possessing and understanding the knowledge of competitor and industry trends, typically within an assigned client market area is another key component to the success in this role.

Our Proposal Coordinator


  • Ensures client satisfaction within Business and/or Client Group.
  • With detailed supervision, is responsible for independently performing research, writing, editing, and proposal production and coordination on a variety of BD efforts.
  • Leads small proposals and may assist on portions of major/strategic efforts; edits, writes, coordinates, and ensures compliance; participates in preparation/writing of proposal sections.
  • Participates on team that wins quality revenue-generating work.
  • Understands and applies Opportunity Assessment and Development process and Proposal and Conversion Process.
  • Supports Sales Manager in integrating pursuit strategy/win themes. May coordinate the integration of the pursuit strategy/win themes for small proposals, and assist on major/strategic efforts.
  • Acts as proposal lead of production staff on assigned efforts.
  • Coordinates content collection with teaming partners and subcontractors as needed.
  • Prepares and ensures compliant and timely proposal deliverables. Tracks development of the proposal process, including meeting client requirements, schedule, and budget. Communicates issues/variances.
  • Writes or edits content for some nontechnical sections, including tailoring resume and project description content.
  • Coordinates needed resources including graphic design, document publishing, and production staff.
  • Accountable for QA/QC of assigned proposals and proposal sections.
  • Seeks suggested improvements/additions to proposal development processes.
  • Implements most effective method to deliver work to achieve goals of assigned BD efforts.
  • Responsible for quality of tasks/output provided by self and others.
  • Follows Enterprise health and safety policies and procedures, and escalates issues.
  • Builds internal client network within Business and/or Client Group.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Possesses effective active listening skills.
  • Builds networks and professional reputation through participation in internal and external technical and professional activities.
  • Uses communication skills to exchange proposal/BD information with others.
  • Understands Enterprise objectives and services provided by Business Groups.
  • Populates and uses appropriate BD tools.
  • Escalates concerns to appropriate manager.
  • Implements company image/brand on assigned projects.
  • Identifies innovative solutions to solve challenges.
  • Conducts follow up on completed proposals and applies lessons learned to future efforts.
  • Has knowledge of and ability to perform (at a basic level) contributing skills (including document publishing, graphic design, and reprographic standards) supporting identification of best practices.
  • Analyzes issues and uses concepts and theories to develop solutions for a specific issue or area.

Basic Qualifications



  • 4-year degree in English, journalism, marketing, or equivalent
  • Required 3 years of experience in writing and editing proposals and related marketing materials
  • Working knowledge of word processing and presentation software programs
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, interviewing, and research skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple deadlines working effectively with staff at all levels

Preferred Qualifications



  • 5+ years of experience in writing and editing proposals and related marketing materials

Degree Required

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
