Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum ten years of bridge construction experience including two years with Complex Category 2 structures and three years with major steel or movable structures. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the experience.
• Must have supervised two or more Senior Inspectors and must have been directly responsible for all inspection requirements related to the construction operations assigned to them.
• Strong communication, problem solving and supervisory skills.
• Capable of effective interaction with CEI inspection staff, contractor, and Senior Project Engineer.
• Skilled in reading plans and interpreting construction contract documents.
• Computer skills with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Job Description:
E.C. Driver & Associates, a subsidiary of URS, has an opportunity for a Project Administrator to work on the Matlacha Bascule Bridge replacement project in Matlacha, Florida.
Responsibilities on this Construction Engineering and Inspection project include:
• Performing highly complex technical assignments in overseeing and performing bridge construction inspection services, coordinating and managing Senior Inspectors and Inspectors, and assisting the Senior Project Engineer and Contract Support Specialist with CEI Project Administration duties. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Senior Project Engineer in accordance with FDOT CEI Scope of Services Standards.
• Work with Senior Project Engineer, CEI Staff, the Owner, the Engineer of Record, the contractor and the general public to successfully perform the Construction Engineering and Inspection of this complex movable bridge and roadway construction project.
• Interpret design plans and verify that the actual product being constructed conforms to the approved design and specifications.
• Verify contractor is constructing the project in accordance with the plans, specifications, change orders, information requests, design clarifications, and shop drawings.
• Review contractor’s CPM schedule for compliance with contract requirements, and provide monthly CPM schedule reviews and reports to document project progress in accordance with the contract requirements.
• Maintain an as-built Construction Schedule.
• Assist in the preparation of Engineer’s Cost Estimates for additional work and evaluate contractor’s request for additional compensation and/or time extensions to provide supporting documentation for the Engineer.
• Prepare and update project related documents and spreadsheets for inspection reports.
• Assist in developing project Quality Assurance Checklists for Inspection staff, and confirm contractor is following Contractor Quality Control requirements and document same.
• Participate in progress meetings to monitor project progress and help resolve construction-related issues.
• Participate in meetings to discuss design requirements and any variances requested.
• Provide problem resolutions of construction-related challenges.
• Confirm materials sampling and testing procedures are followed and maintain material inspection quality assurance documentation.
