Job Description: 
Minimum Requirements:

Requirements/Expectations:
• Education: High School graduate or GED
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in the field of mechanical maintenance or 3+ years experience with a journey level license
• Must have hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of mechanical building systems, preferably in a large research and development facility.
• Systems experience should include areas such as: plumbing, steam and hot water boilers, air handling units, pumps, compressors, air dryers, and exhaust systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Friendly, cooperative, customer service-minded attitude; team player.
• Attention to detail and excellent follow up skills.
• Ability to read and understand repair manuals and drawings.
• Ability to analyze problems, recommend solutions, and initiate repairs.
• Experience working with and understanding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Apply proper safety practices and follow procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
• Some travel may be required.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

Other Attributes:
• Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.

Physical Requirements:
• Operate hand and power tools and mechanical equipment effectively and safely, comply with safety requirements, and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Requires lifting up to 50 pounds and meeting the physical demands inherent to facilities maintenance.
• Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
• Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access databases, send/receive email messages, and to prepare documents.
• Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
• Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other URS, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
• Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movements.

Special Requirements:
• Coping with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained

Preferred Qualifications:
• 4 year trade school or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Journey level license.
• Training and experience in Metasys and/or Tridium building automation systems.
• Experience working in a Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) environment.

Job Description:

URS has a Mechanical Maintenance Technician position available at our client facility in Richmond, Virginia!

Position Description:
Under limited supervision, position is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventative maintenance on various facility maintenance systems.

Essential Functions:
• Assists in performing and responding to work orders associated with building equipment.
• Inspects major equipment and/or operating systems and takes corrective actions as necessary.
• Ensures all appropriate mechanical operations, standards, controls, and specifications, are maintained at a high level of quality.
• Inspects major equipment and/or operating systems and takes corrective actions as necessary.
• Works within the context of a team and at times with minimal supervision.
• Ensures excellent customer service and safe work environment.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
