Minimum Requirements:

• Associates degree in electrical engineering discipline or equivalent experience
• Eight plus years of experience
• Experience with Electrical design on the North Slope of Alaska
• Experience with field walk downs
• Experience required with construction support (min 2 years of field experience)
• References required
• This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with Hazardous Area Classifications is a plus
• Experience with Electric Heat Tracing is a plus
• Working knowledge of PDS, SmartPlant 3D and SmartPlant Electric is a plus
• Experience with instrumentation & and controls preferred

Job Description:

URS Corporation is seeking a Designer IV to be based in our Houston, TX location.

Position Description:

• Fully versed in 2D drawing preparation, and checking using MicroStation and AutoCAD, with minimal supervision
• Proficient supporting FEL I, FEL II, FEL III and Execute activities
• Fully understands the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
• Fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents and reviews discipline supplier documents for accuracy. Can also review other discipline’s supplier documents.
• Fully versed in the process of designing, checking, inter-discipline review and signing of drawings and documents.
• Experience with wiring and schematics
• Understands codes, permits, and software applications related to the electrical deliverables
• Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management, and can review/advise on purchase orders and subcontracts.
• Basic knowledge of the project change control process and can identify a potential change.
• May provide technical guidance to less experienced design staff.
• Creates and maintains positive working relationships with peer leaders and project team
• Creates and maintains productive relationships with organizations both within and external to Engineering
• Position will have direct interface with clients
