Job Description: 

Waste Management, Inc. is the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America. The company serves nearly 20 million municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential customers through a network of 367 collection operations, 355 transfer stations, 273 active landfill disposal sites, 16 waste-to-energy plants, 134 recycling plants, and 111 beneficial-use landfill gas projects. Due to tremendous growth, we are seeking a talented Executive Assistant to provide administrative and secretarial duties in support of a Vice President. The assignments are complex in nature, and require considerable judgment, tact, creativity, and initiative in order to resolve problems.



II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.



  • Serves as a liaison between Vice President, managers and visitors as required; requests and schedules appointments and meetings and resolves problems requiring in-depth knowledge of company policies and procedures, and projects in progress.

  • Takes independent action on handling requests; determines the appropriate course of action, intervenes where necessary, and acts as a liaison between departments.

  • Coordinates data from a variety of sources for inclusion in technical reports and presentations; performs independent research and prepares information for special projects as assigned.

  • Administers the department record keeping system; updates various department records and publications; ensures that department files are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures; reviews requests for information and determines the appropriateness of release.

  • Interprets and relays company policy information; keeps Vice President informed of any deviation on items requiring personal attention.

  • Drafts confidential correspondence, edits documents, takes and transcribes minutes of meetings, and performs other administrative and secretarial duties.

  • Arranges domestic and international travel.

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc) most of the work day;

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely;

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications neccessary to perform this job.


A. Education and Experience


Required: High school diploma or G.E.D., and zero to four years previous experience.


Preferred: High school diploma or G.E.D., with some additional or specialized training, and zero to four years previous experience.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required


Call center or customer service experience, billing and operational experience may be required
