Minimum Requirements:

• MS in Geology or Hydrogeology with P.G. registration or comparable certification.
• At least 15 years of experience in environmental remediation projects, particularly site investigations and groundwater flow models.
• Excellent teambuilding, collaboration, mentoring and report writing skills.
• OSHA 1910 40-hr training and ability to work safely and comply with requirements of project-specific Health and Safety Plans.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be expected to provide strong hydrogeologic skills and project management expertise, as well as, bring new and innovative technologies and methodologies to client projects broadly across client and office portfolios. The successful candidate will be expected to provide programmatic leadership and support business development with existing and new clients through application of innovative science (approaches and solutions) to the toughest challenges. Their involvement will likely include activities, such as, client science advisory panels, academic forums, and technology networks. Their influence will likely include contributions to projects and technical challenges both in the US and abroad.

The successful candidate should have significant experience with characterizing spatial distribution of DNAPL and groundwater quality, and with groundwater-surface water interaction. Understanding the fundamentals of DNAPL fate and transport and having the ability to build conceptual models of subsurface processes is critical. Analytical or numerical modeling skills are required. This position requires the ability to analyze and integrate soil, groundwater, surface water and sediment data and communicate that understanding effectively in presentations and technical reports. The successful candidate will report directly to a senior project manager, but will have technical program management responsibility and direct the day-to-day efforts of other less experienced staff.

While the successful candidate will report to the URS Newark, Delaware office, their responsibilities will be primarily range, although not exclusively, throughout the Mid Atlantic Region. Travel across the region to support projects and proposals is expected. By joint agreement, the successful candidate could be located in any of the URS offices in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania or Delaware.
