Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field with at least 15 years of extensive and diverse experience in the transit and rail industry. Position also requires a minimum of 10 years of experience as a project manager for passenger or freight rail projects.
• Railroad Capital Construction Experience
• Railroad Force Account Experience
• Project Management Experience (minimum $10M annually)
• Must have thorough working knowledge and understanding of transit and rail design and construction projects. Must also have demonstrated success in leading projects of capacity improvements, rehabilitation, new construction, and overall infrastructure enhancements.
• Must have strong people skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

The Transit and Rail Department is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Railroad Engineer for immediate employment in the Chicago office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Track Design, specific to Class I Railroads. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including High Speed Rail and CREATE.
Incumbent Responsibilities:

• Organizes and conducts civil engineering related tasks and field work which has a well-defined scope.
• Assists with marketing to Amtrak and other railroad clients.
• This position requires the ability to assist offices throughout the Delaware Valley Region and nationally on railroad pursuits as necessary.
• This position requires the flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs of the URS Corporation.
• Senior Project Manager for major transit and rail projects in the greater Chicago area and also supporting the transit and rail business line on other projects within URS.
• Will be accountable for the success, including financial, of transit and/or rail projects as well as accountable for the delivery of project documentation to the high standards of URS and the client within specified timeframes. Will assist with the preparation of design tenders and proposals and participate in workgroup technical activities.
• Will interact with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of track, structures, geotechnical, signals, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and civil engineers and scientists. Will identify and build teams for complex and significant transit and rail projects for project pursuits.
