Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. • Minimum of eight years of relevant drainage experience. • Licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Floodplain Manager • Under general direction, must be able to independently work on the large scale of drainage design projects. Must have comprehensive skills on developing the design concept for roadway drainage systems in accordance with established standards. Must have the ability to analyze and interpret public agencies regulations and procedures. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients and the general public. • Must be proficient utilizing various drainage design software packages, including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Bentley H&H package, XP-SWMM, PondPak, HydraFlow, and other drainage analysis software. Ability to efficiently use the drainage programs to develop the H&H models and provide drainage design alternatives and recommendations. Proficient with Microstation, GEOPAK, Inroads, or other design software as appropriate. • Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists. Ability to work and interface with client staff at various levels (engineering, operations, maintenance, etc.) in a diplomatic and positive manner. • Ability to efficiently work on stormwater conveyance and detention system design, roadway drainage, construction phasing services, land grading, floodplain and floodway encroachment evaluation, watershed analysis, water quality control, culvert design, hydraulic reports, permitting from different counties and public agencies, such as IDOT, CDOT, ISHTA, IDNR-OWR, USACE, IEPA, MWRD and other public agencies.

Continuously evaluates methods used to accomplish the activities that have been assigned. • Incumbent will be responsible for the production of design calculations, technical reports, permitting, and engineering plans and specifications for design of roadway/railroad drainage facilities, storm drains/sewers, and detention facilities. Provide strong and focused support for transportation projects in area of hydrology and hydraulics for roadway drainage and major and minor crossing structures. Oversee analysis and design of urban storm drainage systems (hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater quality). Review hydrologic and hydraulic analyses with computer aided software and proprietary models. Coordinate and develop Location Drainage Studies, prepare construction drainage plans and review shop drawings. • This position reports to the principal drainage engineer in the department. • Will interact with multidiscipline and multi office teams within URS. Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists. • Potential to expand skill set to other water resources focused projects, including flood control facility and conveyance design, streambank stabilization, and stormwater quality.
