Job Description: 
Minimum Requirements:

Education: 4 year Trade School or demonstrated equivalent.
Experience: 8+ years in area of specialization with a minimum 3+ years as an industrial Central Utility Plant operator.
• Must posses a valid “Philadelphia A” Stationary Engineer License or approved equivalent.
• This position requires knowledge of engineering fundamentals necessary for effective and safe operation of complex electrical and mechanical building equipment and systems.
• Experienced troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing central utility plant systems (e.g. high pressure steam boilers), centrifugal chillers (1000 ton+), air handling units, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, UST, exhaust systems, VAV pneumatic controls, and building automation control systems.
• Ability to read dials, monitors equipment, enter recordings into computer equipment and log all data.
• Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to analyze problems, recommends solutions, and initiates repairs.
• High attention to detail and excellent follow up skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Friendly, cooperative, customer service-minded attitude; team player.
• Apply proper safety practices and follow procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
• Must be self-motivated with excellent time-management skills.
• Ability to work with little or no direction at times.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

• Must be willing to work a 12 hour rotating shift including holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Physical Requirements:
• Have the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Have the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
• Have the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
• Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
• Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Have the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Have the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant for shift.
• Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:
• Coping with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in operation of 150psi steam boilers and steam distribution systems preferred.
• Experience with Siemens and Honeywell building automation systems
• EPA approved Universal CFC certification.
• Experience with medium voltage switchgear (35kV and 5 kV) operations and switching.
• Previous experience supervising vendors and on-site contractors.

Job Description:

Upon Award of Contract, URS will have a Central Utility Plant Operator (Stationary Engineer) position available at our Collegeville, PA facility!

Central Utility Plant (CUP) Stationary Engineer reports directly to the CUP Stationary Lead and is responsible for the care and maintenance of the boiler rooms, central utility plants and associated equipment. Equipment includes, but is not limited to: high-pressure boilers, industrial grade chilled water systems, compressed air system, fire water systems, neutralization skids, including cooling towers, pumps, neutralization skids, boilers, D, water softeners and surge tanks, etc and various other building management systems located throughout the property. Also coordinates subcontractor activities and assists craft technicians in other facility maintenance trades and services.

Essential Functions:
• Understands and complies with all Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) programs and procedures.
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure boilers, industrial chillers, air compressors, motors, and generators.
• Responds to alarm conditions, notify and correct as applicable.
• Monitors building automation systems to ensure proper operation of air handling equipment and room temperatures including start up and shutdown, and normal operating conditions. Makes adjustments as necessary.
• Operates and maintains feed water pumps, cooling towers and ensure that all systems are operating at peak efficiency. Note and report problems with equipment, make adjustments as necessary.
• Participates in the facility peak shaving efforts in order to reduce electrical consumption
• Orders fuel oil and maintains equipment usage and logs and reports for various utilities throughout the campus. Utilities include, but are not limited to, water, sewage, fuel oil consumption, gas consumption,
• Primary responsibility for water testing, treatment and associated chemical addition for the boilers and chilled water systems located throughout the site.
• Takes daily utility readings submits accurate and timely reports as required to meet client, URS, local and state requirements.
• Performs Preventative Maintenance work activities and required repairs on all central utility plant equipment as scheduled.
• Conducts building tours and monitors equipment condition during the assigned shift..
• Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
• Under general supervision, performs tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
