Minimum Requirements: • BS degree in engineering, CA PE. • Over 15 years of progressive experience in transit related engineering, planning and management. • Candidates must have extensive knowledge of all transit and rail engineering practices and principles and a demonstrated ability to develop a practice and secure work with transit clients. • Experienced in project management and project delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects • Candidate must have understanding of typical AE accounting practices and be responsible for the performance on projects under his/her direction. • Outstanding communication and leadership skills are required.

Job Description: • URS has an outstanding leadership opportunity for a Transit Engineering Design Manager based in our Los Angeles, CA office. • This position will be the technical and strategic lead of the transit and rail engineering group, focused on rail and bus projects from preliminary engineering to final design. Candidates will conduct detailed analysis of transit feasibility studies as well as project specific tasks including the assessment and design of transit and rail facilities, light and heavy track routes, stations, and systems. • This role will lead and mentor group of junior, intermediate and senior engineers in the pursuit and design of complex projects as well as interfacing with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists in support of overall project delivery. • Candidate will coordinate work efforts prepared by other departments/division within URS such as structure, geotechnical and environmental engineering staffs related to transit and rail projects. • This role will be responsible for defining the scope, budget and schedule, and coordinating with multidisciplinary team leaders during preparation of design documents. • Candidates will be responsible for business development and marketing in target and pursuit of projects in the transit and rail marketplace as well as assisting in the identification and recruitment of key staff. • This is a high-visibility position, interacting with both clients and public agencies such as state DOTs, local units of government and federal agencies, working with multi-disciplinary and multi-office teams within URS, subcontractors and the general public.
