Minimum Requirements: The Senior Transportation Project Manager must have a Bachelor degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering and must be a certified Professional Engineer in the State of California or have the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment. Minimum of 15 years of increasing levels of technical and managerial experience on highway planning and design projects required. Experience on projects in California to Caltrans standards or similar experience working on equivalent state department of transportation projects. The candidate should have extensive technical knowledge of Caltrans and design standards, criteria, policies and procedures. The candidate should have demonstrated successful experience with leadership of design teams, supervising teams of 5 or more senior-level and staff engineers. Must be able to manage projects within budgets and should have a track-record of completing and delivering projects on schedule. Candidate should be capable of leading projects with minimal direction or supervision. Must be able to pursue and win new work from transportation clients throughout southern California. Maintaining regular contacts with pre-existing key transportation clients in the region will be important to ensuring successful business development activities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Job Description: Responsibilities will include managing all types of transportation projects including conceptual engineering studies, preliminary engineering and final design. Will be responsible for business development activities such as meeting with clients, pre-marketing for upcoming projects, creating innovative pursuit strategies, writing proposals, preparing scopes of work and fee estimates, making presentations to clients, conducting interviews as the lead presenter and negotiating contracts with major transportation clients in the southern California area. Other responsibilities include being responsible for the technical quality of all deliverables produced by the project team, ensuring technical accuracy and conformance with standards and communicating directly with the Transportation Department Manager and the Highway Market Segment Leader for the Western Region. The position will also coordinate the work of multi-disciplined project teams integrating transportation work products prepared by other departments/divisions within URS such as structures, geotechnical and environmental engineering staffs and/or subconsultants.
