ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Digital Marketing Manager is a member of The Nature Conservancy’s Central U.S. Marketing team. In coordination with the team, s/he is responsible for the development and execution of the digital marketing plans (incl. web, social media and video) for program partners managed by the Central U.S. marketing team.  S/he will coordinate the implementation of digital marketing programs and strategies, and work to ensure marketing tactics are implemented on time and on budget.                                               

The Digital Marketing Manager researches and recommends features, functions and solutions to create compelling digital content that enhances the Conservancy’s ability to reach and engage a broader constituency for conservation. S/he also works with the Web manager to analyze the effectiveness of digital outreach strategies and content and for presenting findings to team members.  

S/he will assist staff in developing and executing strategies and content across social media channels. The Digital Marketing Manager will also provide guidance and support to staff and vendors on shooting, editing and producing  videos.

The Digital Marketing Specialist reports to the Sr. Marketing Director and supervises the Web Manager.   

DUTIES
  •  Work with MRC-C program partner leads to develop and execute web plans for Central US partners, including strategic guidance and goal setting. 
  • Manage and develop web feature content. Keep editorial calendar of web updates; work with staff to ensure regular updates are made. Provide guidance on repurposing/reusing content.
  • Write/edit clear and succinct digital content on complex topics; hire and manage freelancers as needed.
  • Assist staff in developing and executing social media plans.  Offer guidance on how to best integrate social media channels with other communication vehicles. Develop and execute plan to increase social promotions across Central US states’ social media platforms.
  • Conceive division-wide promotional efforts that help drive traffic to partner’s web pages.
  • Work with Central US editorial team to provide guidance on creation of web content/features.
  • Work with program partner leads and Web Manager to help provide management and direction to freelancers who shoot, edit and produce videos.
  • Devisestrategies to drive online traffic to program partner pages. Also, identify and adopt best practices across and outside of TNC.
  • Oversee tracking efforts handled by Web Manager. Use tracking to guide staff on how to improve the performance of content on digital vehicles.
  • Develop relationships with outside resources (ex., social media/interactive agencies) to identify additional resources that can advance program partner’s digital efforts.
  • Act as a resource to other states within the Central US on their digital marketing initiatives.
  • Act as divisional e-mail Captain, supporting best practices in email throughout the Central US division.
  • Stays abreast of technology and new developments concerning digital tools by monitoring industry trends, our internal performance and the full competitive environment. Suggests and adopts relevant best practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field and minimum 5 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with digital marketing in managing web content, video, social media and online promotions.
  • Experience managing and implementing multiple projects simultaneously within deadlines.
  • Staff and vendor management experience.
  • Experience using digital media software, including Adobe Photoshop, HTML and Flash.
  • Experience with an enterprise content management system (ex: Oracle) required.
  • Experience in project and account management, including measuring results of strategic plans and programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of experience, including experience in creating web and social media content and strategies.
  • Understanding of the video production process, from concept to final production.
  • Ability to work independently without requiring detailed management review of general work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly writing for the web.
  • Successful experience in project management and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience managing staff desirable.
  • Experience with an enterprise content management system (ex: Oracle) required.
  • Specific expertise with Adobe PhotoShop, HTML and Flash.  
  • Knowledgeable about web technologies, standard concepts, best practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization a plus.
  • Personal passion for preserving and protecting the natural world with a belief in the mission, principles, and values of The Nature Conservancy’s global approach to conservation.
