Job Description:

AECOM, one of the world's largest environmental consulting firms, is seeking a motivated, responsible individual for a full-time arborist position in New York, NY. This full-time, permanent position will start immediately.

Responsibilities include:

1) Provide oversight of construction crews engaged in sidewalk excavation and underground utility line installation around New York City-owned trees in the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island; 2) Conduct tree surveys; 3) Prepare permit applications; and 4) Document all phases of construction in and around city-owned trees.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

1) Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills as well as the ability to multitask and work within deadlines; 2) Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel; and 3) Be able to work outdoors in all seasons and weather and traverse, on foot, uneven terrain within a construction zone.

Minimum requirements:

At least three years of relevant work experience with arboriculture, natural resources, and/or construction oversight. Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to navigate to and through Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. Although not required, an academic degree in botany, natural resources management, environmental science, or related discipline is a plus.
