Job Description:  This job posting is based on ANTICIPATED work.

The position is located on the North Slope of Alaska and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals provided while in Prudhoe Bay.

Position Summary:

Independently performs functions at project operating locations associated with the receipt, storage, custody and issuance of project material Reports directly to the Materials Supervisor

Essential Job Functions:
  • Inspects, verifies, receives and issues both Owner furnished and CH2M HILL procured material for the project
  • Informs the Material Supervisor of all material problems in a timely manner and helps to resolve those issues
  • Performs responsibilities in accordance with established policies, plans and procedures to effectively assist on-site efforts in support of client project requirements
  • Documents defective material issues, shipment discrepancies and non-conformance issues; relays that information to the Material Supervisor and assists in resolving the issue in a timely manner
  • Works directly with Owner warehouses and CH2M HILL field personnel on a daily basis
  • Provides accurate documentation to the Material Supervisor of all material received and issued as per established field material procedures
  • Responds to and helps resolve material issues from the field personnel
  • Communicates with Owner Warehouses and field disciplines to effectively work with both to help manage material in a pro-active manner
  • Encourages early detection of material shortages and early material requests from the field, to achieve an efficient relationship with the warehouse for timely response to material requests
  • Assists in managing both permanent material and consumables, tools and equipment

  • Skills in understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Skills in communicating effectively orally and in written format
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to manage competing demands, accept criticism and constructive feedback, while being extremely adaptable and flexible
  • Basic computer skills commensurate with program and job applications, if required
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision and interface with a variety of people representing different companies



Physical Demand/Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to knuckles x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to waist x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to shoulders x 2 with a 12 second interval
  • Carry: Carry 40 lbs with 2 hands on level surface for 50 feet x 2; self-paced; allow a 60 second rest break between carry tests
  • Stairs: Climb up and down 10 steps x 2 for a total of 20 steps; self-paced but continuous
  • Climb a slanted ladder, up and down 8 rungs x 2 for a total of climbing up and down 16 rungs, self-paced but continuous
  • Repetitive Kneeling Test: Perform from standing, kneel on one knee, alternate from left to right knee, x 5 each knee
  • Repetitive Stoop Test: Perform from standing position, bend forward at waist as far as possible without bending the knees with hands reaching toward the floor x 5, self-paced, but continuous
  • Repetitive Squat Test: Perform a functional squat and stand x 5, and
  • Twist and Flex Test: Perform from standing alternate toe touches x 5 to each side to assess ability to twist and flex the trunk repetitively

Basic Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Three to five (3-5) years experience working in remote North Slope operations required
  • Familiarity with oilfield construction material required
  • Valid driver license and ability to be insured by CH2M Hill's auto insurer required

Preferred Qualifications


  • Three to five (3-5) years material experience (warehouse or inventory control and ordering applications) preferred
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical material preferred
  • One (1) year experience working Office Suite programs (i.e. word, excel, & outlook) preferred

Degree Required

High School or GED
