Tesla's Model S is the world's first premium sedan designed and engineered from the ground up as an electric vehicle and was named Automobile Magazine 's 2013 Automobile of the Year ® and Motor Trend 's prestigious 2013 Car of the Year ® The Role Tesla Motors is looking for an exceptionally talented and committed software engineer to help re-invent the in-car experience. Join the small, dedicated team that builds the software for the 17" touchscreen of the Model S, an interface the New York Times calls "brilliant." According to Wired, "it's really, really damned good, proving to be both incredibly intuitive and surprisingly interference-free." The ideal candidate combines excellent software engineering skills with strong product design sensibilities and a passion for building inspiring, easy-to-use software. Responsibilities Design, code, and debug UI interfaces/architectures and in-car/mobile applications Write code to interface with a range of automotive and communications hardware Work with a cross-functional team (design, QA, firmware, electrical, mechanical) Code primarily in C++ on custom hardware running Linux, with potentially some Objective-C and/or Java for mobile applications Requirements A proven track record of delivering high-quality products in a short amount of time Experience building state-of-the-art user interfaces and/or acclaimed consumer-facing applications Excellent grasp of fundamental computer science concepts Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment Strong ability to prioritize features and development Greater than 3 years of experience BS degree in CS/EE or equivalent Tesla Motors is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity.
