Job Description:  CH2M HILL Geology/Environmental Engineer Careers – Anchorage, Alaska
The challenge? Our Geologist careers are your opportunity to help our clients with complex issues and protect human health and the environment. Each day, you will participate in a variety of field and office tasks related to planning, evaluating, and implementing environmental investigations and remediation projects. You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual, with a BS or MS degree and 5-9 years of geology experience along with a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each geology job.

Our Geologists/Environmental Engineers:

  • Share experiences in a positive work environment where talents are recognized
  • Work in an effective team environment, learning and taking instruction from mid and senior staff, and mentoring junior staff
  • Act as the project geologist for field investigations and assist with reporting deliverables
  • Lead and support safety “incident free" operations in the office and in the field
  • Are the lead safety person for field activities for client work sites
  • Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety in all work
  • Complete tasks within schedule and budget with a variety of teams from different disciplines and backgrounds and communicate status of tasks to project managers
  • Serve as Field Team Lead for soil and groundwater sampling activities
  • Log soil borings and work with drillers to install new groundwater monitoring wells
  • Prepare work planning and reporting documents
  • Assume comprehensive task management responsibilities (serve as a task lead and manage task schedule and financials)
  • Contribute to an employee-owned company dedicated to sustainable development practices
  • Exhibit integrity and the highest quality in all activities
Additional information: Travel requirement is less than 20%. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (H1B, etc.) to fill this position.



Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology or related Environmental Science
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with environmental site investigation/remediation projects
  • Knowledge of experience with soil and groundwater investigations, assessments and remediation technologies
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER trained
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software
  • Must be able to perform field work
  • Must be a strong technical writer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Geologist or Engineer
  • Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering or Hydrogeology
  • DoD and CERCLA experience
  • Experience working with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Contaminated Sites Program

Degree Required

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
