Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering • Minimum 10 yrs of experience • Licensed PE • Experience in mechanical, plumbing and controls engineering • Develops without supervision conceptual designs, design development documents and construction documents, including cost estimating and drafting of single lines and floor plans. • Experience in multiple or all areas of chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, generators, and life safety systems. • Experience working on design for data centers (all Tiers) and mission critical facilities projects a must • Proven go-to resource for mechanical in the area of data center engineering • Self-starter, self-motivated, and should prioritize well. • Experience with AutoCad, BIM and REVIT • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills • Valid Driver's License. The role: Mechanical Engineer, Data Center : URS is actively seeking a highly-talented Mechanical Engineer for employment in the San Francisco Bay Area. The qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in performing mechanical engineering services for data centers and mission critical facilities. The applicant will also provide leadership for strengthening existing client relationships, pursuing new client opportunities, and driving revenue and profit growth in this target market. The position includes the following tasks: • Manage projects, create designs and plans, provided and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering design role for small- to large-sized data center facility design projects. • Create Conceptual Designs gathered from meetings with the client for Field Engineer focus • Oversee commissioning process • Work with management to respond to RFPs. • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of company policies. • Represent the company in project meetings as needed. • Code analyses. • Assign engineering calculations to junior engineers and drafting mark-ups to CADD technicians, and check/verify their product. • Design coordination reviews and QA/QC reviews. • Interact with clients, construction managers, architects and engineers from other firms. • Review progress of work by engineering technicians, meeting with internal project engineers and architects. • Review BIM drafting assignments with Department and Project Managers. • Travel to data center sites for engineering evaluations, mechanical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning, as required.
